The Haifa Cinemateque is one of the oldest leading centres for the arts in Haifa. It has been active since 1975 and its goal is to help educate in, advance, foster and popularize the art of cinema in all its varieties.
The Bruce and Ruth Rappaport Art and Culture Center is a very large building which is situated in the Carmel Center (Mercaz ha-Carmel). It acts as an umbrella organisation for three large halls: the Auditorium, the Rappaport Center and the Cinematheque, as well as the offices of the Irgun Tarbut ve-Sport (the Association for Culture and Sport Society).
Beit haGefen was founded in 1963 and is active on the local, national and international level in working towards the aim of creating a cultural and social meeting place for Jews and Arabs, within which they can jointly encourage and advance mutual understanding of each other.
The Cultural and Social Center named after Abba Khoushy, or (as most people prefer to call it) ‘The Abba Khoushy House, was built in 1969 on the northern slopes of Wadi Rushmiya (The Gibborim River), in the very heart of the leafy, verdant, residential area known as Neve Shaanan. The person who designed the building was the well-known architect, Al Mansfeld, z. l., whose design concept was reminiscent of his earlier design projects, as exemplified by the Israel Museum and Haifa’s own ‘Auditorium’.
