Egged provides intercity and city public bus service throughout the country. Passengers can obtain information about the various bus lines on the Egged website or by phoning the customer service and information center. Both central bus stations in Haifa (Merkazit Hof Ha-Carmel and Merkazit Lev Ha-Mifratz) have information booths and electronic boards displaying the departure times and destinations. Nationwide, buses do not run on Shabbat - from Friday sundown until Saturday sundown - or Jewish holidays; however in Haifa, some bus lines do run on Saturdays.
