Tour no. 9: Wadi Nisnas
This neighbourhood is simply known to Haifans as ‘the Wadi’. This is the only Arab neighbourhood in the city that has preserved its original character. In addition it is a perfect example of the religious and communal co-existence which so typifies the city of Haifa. Wadi Nisnas is a picturesque neighborhood with its stone houses, narrow alley-ways, and Oriental-style market. And all of this produces the atmosphere of a village right in the center of a busy and bustling city. Thanks to the picturesque image of the neigborhood and its distinctive characteristics, Wadi Nisnas has been chosen as the show place for the establishment of the three faiths festival, which is known as ‘the festival of festivals’, and which takes place every year.
