For many years, both the Eytana tugboat and its sibling tugboat, known as Abira, had faithfully served the ports of Haifa. In 1996, the tugboat was sunk and laid to rest 30 meters below the surface. Its bow is adorned with ramming tires and it is slanted sideway at a sharp angle. Its entire openings have been sealed as safety precautions, but the entrance to the bridge is open for divers. The two chimneys were cut down to half size, apparently so not to constitute an obstacle for vessels (namely Army vessels) cruising the area. The Eytana Tugboat serves as a habitat for vegetation and mollusks, as well as a sanctuary for large flocks of fish.
Usually, it is possible to observe flocks of Barramundi fish (Anthias) passing through deep waters.
