The Haifa Tourist and Leisure Board offers 4 routes which offer the tourist the opportunity to feel and experiences the special topography of the city from the top of the Carmel right down to the sea. These stepped routes lead from the new, modern centre of the Carmel  - through areas built in the 20s and 30s in Hadar on Carmel to the ancient historical sites of the old city. From the very new to the very old, from the end of the 20th century to the 18th century. The descent down the stepped routes is accompanied by extensive views and scenery. They take a most unconventional route to nooks and special places, taking in unusual views of the city, which are not always possible by the more normal paths. The descent creates an interesting municipal mosaic via a colourful array of different buildings and residential areas of a riveting character, together with different tourist sites.
